ALISON LEWY MBE
Fashion Industry Expert, Author and Founder of Fashion Angel

Alison Lewy is a social entrepreneur and founder of Fashion Angel. Alison ran her own design and manufacturing business for 15 years producing under her own label as well as consulting on sourcing and production for designers including Matthew Williamson and Preen.

She worked with Newham College to create and deliver business support programmes to assist creative businesses in developing business skills to become more sustainable. She set up innovative business mentoring schemes that are now established models adopted by other organisations.

Alison became the Commercial Director of the Fashion and Textile Museum in 2006 which she positioned as a hub for the fashion and textile sector, and continued to run mentoring and business support programmes as part of the museum’s offer, as well as setting up the Shop@FTM to showcase new designers.

Seeing the constant demand from fashion designers in need of sector specific support, prompted her to set up Fashion Angel in 2011, to help challenge the high failure rate of fashion businesses.

In 2016 Alison was awarded and MBE for founding Fashion Angel and in recognition of her services to the fashion industry.

She was also selected as one of  the inaugural  The Maserati 100 – a definitive list celebrating Britain’s most successful business leaders actively supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs – in recognition of the continuing support she gives to 100’s of fashion start-ups .

She is one of Fashion Angel’s lead mentors, hosts popular workshops , and speaks regularly at business events and regularly appears in the media commenting on fashion industry issues.

In addition, Alison is  the best-selling author of Design Create Sell – a guide to starting and running a successful fashion business.

VIVIENNE AUSTIN
Fashion Designer, Mentor and Lecturer

Vivienne has extensive fashion industry experience as a designer, lecturer and mentor.

She has been head designer at several ready-to-wear and sportswear companies in the UK and USA  creating swimwear/active wear collections for established companies such as Sara Lee and Liz Claiborne in the USA, to exclusive high-end labels including Liberty. She has also worked as a design consultant for Courtaulds, a major supplier to Marks and Spencer, and developed the first swimwear collection for the iconic brand ‘Biba’ for House Of Fraser.

Vivienne graduated from Central St. Martins, and has taught at the Royal College of Art (MA Course), Southampton University; Winchester School of Art, (BA Course) where she mentored students developing their final collections for graduate fashion week (GFW), as well as a visiting lecturer at The London Centre for Fashion Studies in Hanoi, Viet-Nam and Regents College in London.

Having recently completed a MA in Fashion Futures at The London College of Fashion, she is particularly interested in the interface between design, science, technology and the environment.

She has mentored a number of graduates and start-up fashion businesses assisting them with either portfolio presentation to secure work in the industry, or business advice to launch their own brand.

EMMA CROSBY
Fashion Industry Expert and Consultant

Emma has worked in the fashion industry for almost 30 years in both retail and wholesale sectors and was the force behind the rise of Miss Sixty in the UK market. Her career spans management, development, creative guidance and helping shape strategies in sales, marketing and PR for emerging designers as well as established brands from the heyday of the 90’s to the trickier ‘noughties’

From 2000, she was integral in the debut of British brands at home & abroad both through collaboration, and through her own projects which included London a la Mode – an incubator showroom for emerging brands. Emma is a consultant for a number of brands and clients have included Fashion Scout, Sybarite, Kevan Jon, Sales Gossip & Felicities PR.

DARRYL BANNON
Fashion Industry Mentor

Darryl is a qualified accountant and MBA with 20 years experience as an accountant up to director level. Having come from a family retail background, she is a supporter of independent retailers in particular in the fashion sector. As a result she took the opportunity to study the impact of digital innovation for SME fashion retailer as part of her MBA and has worked with a number of trade bodies in Ireland as a result.

In recent years she has worked with a variety of luxury and independent designers while with KPMG and independently through her own practice. Darryl’s core areas are accounting, finance and business strategy.

MORAG WOOD
Founder of Land Girl and Communications Expert

Morag has worked in a number of high profile communication roles over the last 20 years including the Millennium Commission, The Natural History Museum and the London Development Agency. For the last eight years she has worked as a consultant with clients including the Fashion and Textile Museum, Natural England and the Olympic Lottery Distributor.

She is also co-founder of Land Girl, a range of gardening clothes for women that’s recently attracted investment. Morag’s particular expertise lies in using her extensive experience in communications and branding to work with smaller organisations to show how communications can add value to their business.

CHRISTOS HATIOLLIS
Creative Director and Co-founder of Shroomstudio

Christos is Creative Director and Co-founder of Shroomstudio: an independent creative agency based in Hackney, East London. The studio was set up in 2001 with a specialist interest in animation and graphic content for broadcast television. The studio soon expanded into music visuals, installation work and film making with a focus on science & sustainability. Their client list is a heady mix of public body and corporate clients including BBC, Channel4, The UN and The V&A Museum.

Christos is a creative leader with a passion for developing innovative cross platform projects and has been involved in mentoring young businesses over the last 10 years, helping young creative companies expand successfully with his experience of start up, business planning, branding and project management. Chris joined our team to deliver ongoing mentoring and workshops for the digital and visual media sector.

PAUL ALGER
Associate Mentor and Director of International Affairs, UK Fashion & Textile Association

Since 1989, Paul has worked with UK designers and manufacturers in the fashion and textile industry, offering business advice and support, particularly relating to international trade and trade shows. He has worked with most of the major international trade shows including menswear, womenswear, lingerie and beachwear, childrenswear and accessories and more recently has been involved with shows for textiles and textile designs. He is experienced in the established markets of Europe and the USA but also has extensive experience and contacts in Japan and Russia and has begun to work on projects in China. He has led trade missions and groups to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China and the USA among many others.
